The Right Nurturing Of The Baby

by Norbert Shtaynberg 05 Apr 2019

Newborns usually eat very often, at intervals of 3-4 hours, and sometimes even more frequently, 1-2 hours. Whether it is breastfeeding or bottle feeding, the infant will spend much of their time feeding.

Pediatricians introduce solid foods to children between 4 and 6 months, although the trend now is that earlier than six months the child not to be fed with anything else than breast milk. Breast milk gives enough nutrients to your child and the digestive system is not ready for anything else than milk.

Proper diet for children is one that provides an adequate amount of nutrients in proper proportions and is perfectly adapted to the stage of development that fits the child.

Solid and semi-solid foods can be introduced into the infant diet starting to fourth month, but parents need to be cautious about the type. It is not recommended early introduction in the diet of honey, because there is a risk that some microorganisms contain spores that can cause botulism.

At first, parents can try feeding your baby with special cereals with iron supplements, mixed with breast milk. The consistency of the mixture can be increased gradually as the child is able to accurately and efficiently control their swallowing. This combination can be offered 2 times a day, but in small quantities and to be composed of 1-2 tablespoons of dry cereal.

From the age of 6-8 months your baby is able to chew food, to sit without support, to catch and grasp things in hand. During this period you should maintain in the diet breast milk or formula milk, administered 3-5 times a day. Their consumption will gradually diminish as the solids will become the majority in the diet.

From 6 months you can enter in the daily diet mashed fruits and vegetables. They must be integrated into the diet gradually, leaving the child for 2-3 days to get used to them, while parents can track how the body responds.

Whole egg diet is introduced only after the first year, due to risk of allergy. Until the age of 1 year, most children have abandoned the use of bottle. After 9 months, fruits and vegetables can be diversified by introducing kiwi, spinach, peppers, lettuce, dill, parsley.

After the child reaches one year breast milk or infant formula milk can be replaced. It is not recommended to use skimmed milk until the child reaches the age of two years because the body needs calories or provided by rich lipid content of milk.

At the age of 1 year most nutrients should come from meat, fruit, vegetables, bread, cereals and dairy products, especially milk. Diversification regime is designed to provide the necessary vitamins and minerals of the body.
